What is the Coffee Axis in Colombia?

The Coffee Axis or Eje Cafetero in Colombia is a geographical region located in the central-western part of the country, renowned as the epicenter of high-quality coffee production. This Axis comprises three departments: Caldas, Quindío, and Risaralda.

The altitude, climate, and topography of this area create ideal conditions for cultivating Arabica coffee, known for its smooth and complex flavors. Hacienda San Alberto

Location: Buenavista, Quindío

Hacienda San Alberto is a coffee-producing place located in Buenavista, Quindío, famed for producing some of Colombia’s most awarded coffees.

The hacienda sits on a 40-hectare land amidst the mountains of the Central Range. It features a vast house painted in white, blue, and orange, surrounded by flowers and, of course, coffee plantations. From a lookout on the hacienda, you can behold the impressive view of this land, 1,500 meters above sea level.

Hacienda San Alberto boasts over forty years of history in coffee cultivation. San Alberto coffee is a blend of Arabica Caturra, Castillo Paraguaicito, and other varieties. The result is a coffee with notes of red fruits and caramel.

Location: Manizales, Caldas

Located in the idyllic coffee landscape of Caldas, Hacienda Venecia stands as a gem that blends history, nature, and coffee. Finca El Ocaso

Location: Salento, Quindío

With over a century of coffee tradition, Finca El Ocaso stands as a living testament to the passion and dedication that coffee growers have invested in each bean. Surrounded by the majesty of the Andes Mountains, El Ocaso offers an immersive experience in the fascinating world of coffee.

The estate features expansive gardens with a wide variety of flowers and native trees, and several hectares of coffee. It also has trails leading to a bamboo forest, a lookout point, a water spring, and the Quindío River, where you can birdwatch and learn about the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest.

Finca El Ocaso offers a spacious lounge with a fireplace that integrates the living room and dining area, boasting a beautiful view of the mountains of the Coffee Cultural Landscape. It also provides accommodation services for up to 10 people.
