ADVENTURE IN COLOMBIA

DAY 1 ARRIVAL – BOGOTÁ

LA CANDELARIA

Upon arrival at El Dorado International Airport, a professional guide will pick you up at the international arrivals exit. A private driver will take you to the Sofitel Bogotá Victoria Regia, a luxury hotel that mixes French style elegance and local features. The hotel is in the Zona T, close to the best art gallerias and boutiques. The transfer takes approximately 40 minutes. You will receive all the necessary documents for the trip at that time.

After checking in, we will take you to some tourist attractions of Bogota. First, you will go to Usaquén and learn about its gastronomic, commercial and artisan offers. Then, we will go to the renowned Parque de la 93, and finally, we will visit the Zona T, one of the liveliest areas of Bogotá, due to the number of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shopping malls and shops. During the day, you will have lunch which is included, and at the end of the tour, you will be escorted back to the hotel. For the evening, we will be pleased to suggest you restaurants and bars to visit.

DAY 2 – BOGOTÁ

MONSERRATE AND LA CANDELARIA

The day begins with a tour to some attractions in Bogota. This tour is divided into two parts: in the morning, you will visit the hill of Monserrate, an imposing mountain that shelters the city, and later, to a large market to learn about Colombian culture and food. You will then head to the historic center for lunch, and in the afternoon, you will learn about its history.

You will visit also the Botero Museum of the contemporary Colombian artist, famous for his lush depictions paintings and sculptures, as well as the Gold Museum. The museum, which was founded by the Colombian State Bank, was rebuilt in 2008 and is today the largest and most important museum of pre- Columbian gold objects of its kind with its tens of thousands of unique exhibits.


In addition to countless archaeological treasures of clay, stone, wood and textile can be found here more than 35,000 stunning exhibits of gold. Among the most outstanding and important objects of the exhibition is the “Golden Raft of El Dorado”. You will then be transported back to the hotel.

DAY 3 – BOGOTÁ

MUISCAS ANCESTORS

A private driver and guide will pick you up in your hotel. They will take you to the lagoon of Cacique de Guatavita, approximately two hours drive from the city, a magical lagoon full of stories and beauty. Afterwards, you will go for lunch on your way to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, the first wonder of Colombia, which you will visit.

The underground Salt Cathedral is one of the largest religious buildings in the world: It is three-aisled, 120 meters long and over more than 8,500 square meters in area dome blown up in the salt-bearing rocks domes.


Inside the cave church everything is chiseled out of salt crystal: numerous monumental crosses, delicate angels and some Madonna statues – all made of salt. Next to the main cathedral there are small chapels and a Via Crucis, 14 stations of which are linked by a series of labyrinthine tunnels.


The transfer to the Cathedral of Salt takes about an hour and a half from Guatavita. The day ends with a transfer back to the hotel.

DAY 4 – BOGOTÁ

THE HIGHEST WATERFALL IN COLOMBIA

In the morning, you will be picked up by a local guide and a private driver. The destination is the hills of Bogota, for which you will travel for about an hour and a half. Enjoy a hike in the mountains to reach the waterfall La Chorrera, the highest in Colombia. It will be a day of connection with nature, admiring the beauty of the place. After the activity ends in the morning, you will go for lunch to the nearby town of Choachí. Transfer back to the hotel. We would be pleased to suggest you places to visit in the afternoon.

DAY 5 ARRIVAL – COFFEE REGION

NOW A LITTLE TASTE OF COFFEE

Private transfer with driver and guide to El Dorado Airport to take the flight to Pereira, where you will be picked up by a private guide and driver, who will take you to the Visus Hotel Boutique & Spa. A beautiful and stylish hotel. In total, the transfer time from one hotel to another takes about four hours. After check in and lunch at the hotel, you will have a Spa afternoon enjoying the weather and the landscape of the coffee region.

DAY 6 – COFFEE REGION

HOT SPRINGS

Today, you will be picked up by a local guide along with a driver to start the journey of approximately one hour to the natural hot springs of Santa Rosa de Cabal. A morning of relaxation is awaiting you. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the landscape and the hot waters. Afterwards, you will continue the journey of about one hour to the Hacienda Venecia to be hosted in an authentic coffee farm, conditioned like a small lodging, where you will have lunch while enjoying the coffee landscape and nature. The rest of the day, you will have time to walk in the area or relax in this wonderful place.

DAY 7 – COFFEE REGION

HACIENDA COFFEE

The day begins with a class of coffee tasting. The experience consists of learning to savor a good cup of coffee, accompanied by an expert who will explain how it works. The idea is to learn to perceive aromas, textures, colors and flavors of one of the most important products of Colombia. The rest of the morning is leisure before having lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, we will tour the hacienda, explaining the whole process of the coffee from its seed, to the cup on our table.

DAY 8 – COFFEE REGION

SALAMINA

Today, we will drive to beautiful Salamina that has preserved the architecture and customs of the coffee landscape. During the journey of approximately two and a half hours, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the mountains of the central cordillera of Colombia and the beautiful constructions that are always embedded in the mountain. Upon arrival in the village, you will check in at the hotel La Casa de Lola García a boutique hotel located in Salamina. Then, you will have time to explore the town. Afternoon at leisure.

DAY 9 – COFFEE REGION

WAX PALM

This region offers a magnificent landscape with the national tree of Colombia, which is located in the “Forest of Samaria.” It will take about an hour to reach the site but once arrived, you can enjoy the view of hundreds of Palmas de Cera, the national tree of Colombia. You will walk through the forest and learn about the flora and fauna of the place. A traditional local lunch will be provided, packed in banana leaf. You will enjoy the landscape filled with the highest palm tree in the world. There is also optional horse riding available. In the afternoon, you will return to the hotel in Salamina.

DAY 10 ARRIVAL – SANTA MARTA

ARRIVAL TO SANTA MARTA

Today, you will return to Pereira, approximately 3 hours drive, to take a flight of approximately one hour to Bogotá. Then, a flight to Santa Marta, the oldest city in Colombia and the second oldest in South America. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be picked up by a private driver and taken to the hotel located in the historical center. You will stay at the hotel Placita Vieja a thematic hotel that highlights the beautiful natural landscapes of the Caribbean region. The total duration of the transfer from one hotel to the other is approximately seven hours. After the check in, you will have time for lunch. Afterwards, a private guide will pick you up for a city tour to learn about the history and culture of the city and the country. The guide will bring you back to the hotel after the tour. We will gladly suggest you restaurants and bars to visit in the evening.

DAY 11 – SANTA MARTA

MACHETE PELAO

It’s time for an adventure. Today begins the journey to the lost city of the Tayrona culture. You will be picked up at the hotel to start a journey of just over three hours to the starting point of the trek, a village called “Machete Pelao.” You will have lunch before starting the first scheduled walk and will begin the ascent to the mountain in the company of a private bilingual guide. After a few hours of walking, downhill and next to the river, you will find the first camp where you will spend the night. You can cool off in a natural pool in the river before dinner.

DAY 12 – SANTA MARTA

TRAIL TO THE LOST CITY

You will continue climbing the mountain, enjoying the beautiful landscape and stories told by local guides. During the pre-Hispanic period, the Tayronas occupied all the region, now there are descendants of different communities, as well as peasant settlers who arrived several decades ago. When you reach the second camp, after walking just over seven kilometers, you will again have an opportunity to refresh yourself in the river before dinner.

DAY 13 – SANTA MARTA

RIVERS AND MOUNTAINS

The walk again is a little more than seven kilometers until arriving at the next camp, located very close to Teizhuna, the sacred city of the Tayronas. The local guide will tell you about the importance and meaning of the “Lost City” for the natives of the Sierra.

DAY 14 – SANTA MARTA

THE LOST CITY

The day begins with breakfast, and after an hour, you will arrive at the archaeological zone. You must climb an old stone staircase of more than 1200 steps until you reach the lost city of the Tayronas. You will take a tour of the different parts accompanied by the local guide to learn more about the spaces and the history of the place. Later, you will return for lunch and begin the return, staying in the camp of the Wiwa Indians.

DAY 15 – SANTA MARTA

RETURN TO CIVILIZATION

The last day of this adventure. Returning to the starting point, you will enjoy a well- deserved lunch and start the journey back to Santa Marta. You will have the rest of the day free, with a night of rest at the hotel in Santa Marta.

DAY 16 – SANTA MARTA

THE GOLDEN PEARL

Free day in Santa Marta with many options of restaurants, cafes, bars, among other establishments to enjoy a well-deserved rest after the visit to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Feel free to ask about further recommendations in Santa Marta.

DAY 17 – SANTA MARTA

TAYRONA

This day will be dedicated to enjoying the sun and the beach in some of the most beautiful beaches of Colombia, located in the park Tayrona. The guide will pick you up at the hotel to transfer you by private transport to the entrance of the park. This journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Within the park, there will be cars to take you further inside the park. There, you will begin a walk until you arrive at your hotel. You will stay at the Ecohabs hotel, located along the beautiful beaches and mountains in the National Park.


After check in, you will have an exploratory tour through the different spaces of the park and then have the rest of the day free.

DAY 18 – SANTA MARTA

SUN AND BEACH

Free day to enjoy the park and the different tranquil spaces that it offers. You will find several beaches (some of them are not for swimming, please pay attention to the warnings, since there have been fatal accidents with visitors). You will enjoy the sun and the sea breeze as you walk through the clean and thin sand. There are several dining and drinking options in several of the park areas.

DAY 19 – HOMECOMING

Last day of travel. The local guide, who will accompany you to the exit of the park, will pick you up in the morning. Your private transportation will take you to the Santa Marta airport to take the flight to Bogota where you can catch your flight back home.
